Brendan Galvin is a film and tv composer. He was recently named one of three international finalists for the 14th International Film Music Competition at the Zurich Film Festival, where his original score premiered live with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich in October, 2026.
Upon completing his Master's degree at Victoria University of Wellington in 2025, Galvin scored his first independent New Zealand feature film. Prior to that, he worked alongside renowned composer David Long at The Swearing Room—a defining chapter of his time in New Zealand that coincided with Long's work on major productions such as The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, Secrets at Red Rocks, and The Choir Games.
Before shifting his primary focus to composition, Galvin earned a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under Mario Guarneri—whose approach to music-making and life left a lasting impact on his artistic philosophy.
